The postcard was mailed in Atlantic Iowa on Apr 2 1913 it was addressed to Mrs. E J Nelson Durant Iowa
Dear Grandma, How are you? We want you to come out here just as quick as you can.  I took this with my camera. Mama took one of us four children but she jiggled the camera and made it blurred.  Well Good by From Mark.
It is 228 miles from Durant to Atlantic Iowa…Grandma probably would have to take the train.

She had six sons and one daughter.

And his mother was called Polly.

His sister Gertrude Mae (I suspect in the photo):

which might explain how the photo ended up in Detroit Lakes. Gertrude married Milton R Behrens.

Thie card is an original photograph  The Chesterman Studio Crookston Minn
This is an Azo Postcard that was used from 1904 to 1918.   I found that H H Chesterman was in business at 216 North Broadway in Crookston in 1915 –1916.

I could find no information about this studio.

From the Art Deco Style of the folder and the style of their clothing I will guess that this is a photo taken in the 1930’s.

As we were smiling then on our sixtieth Wedding Anniversary Nov 26 1934 and kept a going for a week like a Russian wedding.
Ethyl B Lunn started us by having a tea on Sunday of about 45 former Bismarck people to greet us.  The Kodex was taken in Ethes yard.  Last week rainy days gave us both a touch of lumbago so we are looking at each ???? do much mornings.  Sincerely The Wakemans
If I did my math correctly they were married Nov 26 1874.

They lived in Mandan, North Dakota until Stella died at a young age. If I did the math correctly, they married in 1912, so the photo dates to 1937.
