This is a great old photo. Most likely taken in Minnesota in the 1930’s.
My Dad said that these cars are both early 1930’s cars. The license plate says B 33-116 Minn
Further research finds dark plates with white numbers in the years 1931, 1934, 1936 and 1938.
They certainly are a dressed up bunch, everyone has a hat! It must have been a Sunday afternoon!
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
Update from Futura:
I would, without question, date this image to 1931...the car in the foreground is a 1927 Chevrolet National series, and the womens clothing and hats are perfect examples of what was being shown in catalogs and pattern books for the winter 1930-31 season
I got to chuckle at the boy furthest to the right with the fancy socks... :)
ReplyDeleteThat is an intriguing photo - I wonder if there is a way to "trace" the owner from the license plate? That would be something!
This is a pleasing photo - the composition and placement of the individuals is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIf this photo doesn't picture nostalgia, I don't know what does. I wish it was my family--I'd love to claim it!! Iggy, I wish I knew if there was a way to trace old license plate numbers. I wonder if someone at DMV would know that or how far back records are kept. That would definitely add a different dimension to our research. ~Abra
ReplyDeleteWow! Finally found an inspiration to make one happy to stand in line at the DMV...
