Was John W. Parks full name John Wesley Parks, and if so, who is Elizabeth Cusick? Did Wesley Parks remarry and marry Nettie L.?

The 1910 census shows Elizabeth still alive but not living with John, and the 1930 census shows "widowed" Elizabeth living with son Charles and his wife Viola (and their son Willie Lee) in Silver Creek, Mills, Iowa.

Perhaps John W Parks was Wesley J Parks brother? Wouldn't that be confusing.

  2. Ah, John W Parks and Elizabeth Crusik were also Welsey Parks parents. Charles and Wesley were brothers!

In all this time, I've never looked up Welsey's family. His family moved to Macedonia Iowa from New Jersey after Wesley was born (1871), but before Charles (1887) was born much later.

  3. 1880 US census has the John W. Parks family living in Macedonia, Pottawattamie, Iowa. It lists John W. (b. 1838 in New Jersey), wife Elizabeth (b. 1845 in New York) with sons Wesley (b. 1871 in New Jersey) and Samuel Park (b. 1874 in Iowa).

In the 1900 US Census, John W.'s name is mispelled/recorded as John M. Parks. At this time there were more children in the household. Harry (Mar 1883), Thomas (Jan 1887), and Charles (Jan 1887) as well as a sister-in-law named May Timmons (May 1841 in Ireland).

  4. Oh I hope these folks were a lot happier than they appear in this photo. Perturbed and impatient is what I'm getting. But we know that what we find in old studio portraits rarely represents who the people really were.

  5. Wow, with the Cusick connection in Iowa you are starting to tickle the outer branches of my family tree. How fun. :)

  7. Connie, It's a distant connection but I've sent an email to the people I know with a greater interest in that line. My connection is through my great grandmother. Lillie Mae Johnson. Her brother, Jeremiah J Johnson, married Loretta Mae Cusick.I have a photo from 1891 that includes Anna, George, Loretta, and Robbie Cusick. I've never followed the line beyond that, but once I published the photo ( http://houseofstirfry.com/gallery/darnold.html )a couple of Cusick researchers came looking for me.
