Photo Project: Photo Number One

This is my first unknown/ forgotten photo.   I have no idea who these people are, where they lived or what they did in their lives.  I only know their photos ended up in an antique shop..and I purchased them.

I have absolutely no idea where this blog is headed, but if you are here..reading and commenting..then I will keep ...keeping on.  Well to tell you the absolute truth, I will keep on ..because something tells me to.  Perhaps someone will recognize some of the people in these old photos.

Any and all input is welcome.  I will give all the info I have ..names and  the name and location of the Photography Studio.

What year do you suppose this was?  I will guess in the 1930's?  If you know of someone with a similar style wedding dress..then leave me a comment, so we can narrow down the year! **** Noriko says that her Grandmothers dress was similar..and she got married in 1927 or 1928.

She was a beautiful bride..and I love her veil and flowers!  If you click on the photo it will enlarge!

Thanks for visiting!  Do come again! :)

  1. What a wonderful idea for a blog! I love the picture. The butterfly pin (?) is amazing. Do you think her hair was short or pulled back in a bun? Someone who knows mens fashions should be able to date it pretty close by the suit jacket. Not I, sadly! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your old pictures.

  2. I love this! Her dress does look like it has a butterfly "bodice?" And those flowers are gorgeous. Now HE has the most intriguing eyes - they must be blue; you can almost see thru them! Fun, fun, fun!

  3. I am dellighted with your new blog idea. I think the "butterfly" is beadword on her gown. I wonder if the photo was taken in the early 1900's... I "rescue" baptism, and wedding licenses from garage sales, send them to the church (if listed) or Historical/Genalogical Society of the city/state. I figure someday someone will appreciate these old documents. HH

  4. At first I thought she looked awful sad, and then when I clicked, I realized that I was wrong.

She looks wonderful, and he is very handsome. Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone could claim them as a relative?

    Who knows.

  6. This is a fun idea to post old photos. Do you ever look at the anniversary pictures in the paper on Sunday? Many times people will have a wedding picture and a current picture and I always marvel at how little some people change, even their hairstyles and glasses are the same 50 years later. It would be so neat if someone recognized a person from the photos you post.

  7. I love this new blog. Old photos are so intriguing. We will never know the stories behind them, but in a way it sort of allows the people in them live on. You are creating a legacy for them on the internet.

This bride's dress was beautiful and so ornate with that butterfly.

Tell Far Guy he is too funny. Does he really have a suit like that? What a guy! I think it is neat that he comments on your blog. You two are a great couple.

  8. Hi everyone, Thanks for coming by. I just found out that flowers like this were popular in 1928. Her butterfly beadwork..is a tad flapperish..of the 1920's. Is that enough info to say 1928?? I am not sure. :)

  9. Oh my that is one gorgeous dress--I love that butterfly beadwork!! Absolutely stunning couple. Farside, I am so happy to see you doing this. I am so saddened when I see old photos in antique shops, as if no one cared who these people were. At least, with your blog, you are showing someone cares! My mother-in-law once offered me a couple boxes of old photos of my hubby's relatives...I said yes, of course I wanted them. I forgot them and the next time we went back, she had given them away to someone (not related)that wanted them for "crafts." Bummer! Abra

  12. My grandmother was married in the late 1920, '27 I think or '28. Her wedding dress was similar with lots of lace, but I don't know if she wore a headpiece. She was somewhat forward thinking for her time. Unfortunately she gave her wedding dress to a museum and no one knows which one!

  14. I love old photos... I didn't think I would find a blog like this but there you go... Um I'm barely looking through photos one through ten but I don't want to spoil them by looking at all of them at once obviously when you started it was just like a hobby or something and it looks now that you have a grip on this kind of thing so I'll be looking at this blog for a while...
